Daft Punk Integrated Campaign
Project Type: Visual Design, UX Design, Integrated Marketing, Print
Daft Punk is my favorite band/duo of all time! Now and then, if you see me with my headphones on and dancing in my chair, it’s because Daft Punk is playing.
I remember this project with fond memories because I spent countless nights making this campaign happen. There were a lot of calls with their management team because they wanted the design to follow their brand guidelines as close as possible, but with a little compromising, we came together to develop the creative you see. Their design aesthetic was simple and minimal; this is reflected across the album and different single releases.
Web App Wireframes
Wireframe with a timeline you could scrub through. Different events would happen along the timeline in different parts of the world.
I also came up with a straightforward option hoping they would go with the more interactive options. Guess which one they chose?
This wireframe represents a tv that would fill the screen of the site. As a teaser we could release different teaser music videos until we were ready to launch the full site.
Web App Ideas
As with most cases, the management team was hesitant to pick an idea and asked us to visually flush out our ideas, so we did. I decided to try to propose the timeline.
Working with the Digital Marketing team, we decided it would be great to put up billboards across different parts of the world having a camera on the billboard that would supply a feed 24/7. Daft Punk is an international band and the userbase is global so the bet was that it would drive up fan engagement.
Similar to the example below, this concept was be based off of WebGL technology where the user would go through the space with their finger or mouse as objects flew at them. Different visuals would fly towards the camera and they would create their own unique experiences they could share on their social media at the end of their experience.
At the end of the day and over many calls, Daft Punk’s management opted for a simple, clean site that they could easily update with the latest releases.
